Collecting Life, Not Things

My wife often asks me why I’m not interested in collecting things the way many men do—cars, figures, or other collectibles.

I usually tell her that I might be a little different. I don’t really like collecting objects, because to me, objects are lifeless. In the end, we all leave this world, and none of those things can go with us.

I believe the purpose of things is to be used, not to be stored away.

Only when they are used do they truly come alive.

So rather than collecting objects, I would rather collect

memories, feelings, and life experiences.

我太太常问我，为什么不像很多男人那样喜欢收藏东西，比如车子、模型或者各种收藏品。

但我常跟她说，我可能跟很多男人不太一样。我并不喜欢收藏东西，因为在我看来，东西是死的。人终究会离开这个世界，这些东西也带不走。

我觉得，物品存在的意义，是被使用，而不是被收藏。只有被使用的时候，它们才真正有生命。

与其收藏一堆终究会留下来的物件，我更愿意收藏的是——

回忆、感受，以及人生的体验。
