It’s Not About Reading
Many people believe that a book should be read from the first page to the last.
But in my experience, a book can be read from beginning to end,
or it can be read selectively.
Because a book is written by a human,
and human knowledge is rarely indivisible.
Yet society has planted a strange belief in our minds:
If you do not finish a book,
then you have somehow failed.
Many people even feel a sense of guilt
when they leave a book unfinished.
But there is absolutely no reason to feel that guilt.
In fact, that guilt is nothing more than a mental virus
that society has implanted in our brains.
Because reading itself is not the point.
It’s not about reading.
It’s all about growth.
What truly matters is growth.
Some books may contain only a few sentences
that are genuinely valuable.
But those sentences may suddenly connect
with your past knowledge and experiences.
It creates resonance.
When you encounter ideas like this,
you should stop reading and start thinking.
You may even spend an entire day
reflecting on the meaning of a single sentence.
So reading has never been about speed.
Reading is about depth.
What ultimately matters is not
how many books you read,
but how much they help you grow.
If a book contains only a few sentences
that help you grow,
then reading those few sentences
is already enough.
Because in the end,
reading is not the goal.
Growth is.
It’s not about reading.
It’s all about growth.
