Alignment Over Competition
Over the past few years, I’ve come to realize something:
Competition often means imitation.
When people compete, they are usually doing the same thing—just trying to run faster on the same track.
Venture capitalist Peter Thiel once said:
“Competition is for losers.”
At first, that statement sounds arrogant.
But the logic behind it is profound:
if you are competing, you are probably doing the same thing as everyone else.
Over the past three or four years, I’ve rarely felt that sense of competition.
Instead, I focus on one thing:
aligning with myself.
About three years ago, I left my last company.
That inner voice had been there for a long time, telling me:
“This is not the path you are meant to follow.”
The journey since then has not been easy.
Yet even through difficulty, I’ve always felt a deep sense of peace.
Because when you are walking your own path,
competition becomes irrelevant.
