Birth is an accident. Character is a choice.

Over the past few years, I have experienced a significant shift in my thinking.

Earlier in my life, I strongly identified with grand national narratives. I believed that the unity and strength of a nation or culture were ideals that should naturally be protected.

But over time, through reading, observation, and reflection, I began to question something deeper.

If the country we are born in, the culture we inherit, and the ethnicity we belong to are things we never had the chance to choose, should they define who we must be for the rest of our lives?

Gradually, my answer became clearer.

I no longer see identity as something determined primarily by birthplace, ethnicity, or historical narratives. Instead, I see it as something shaped by individual choices, values, and character.
